understanding plagiarism and reference

PLAGIARISM

Plagiarism means copping to another person idea or a part of their work and pretend that is person own. Plagiarism is a culture as well as academic phenomenon and is ,therefore, frequently misunderstood by many international student. Many people think of plagiarism as copying another's work, or borrowing someone else's original ideas. But terms like "copying" and "borrowing" can disguise the seriousness of the offens

Type of plagiarism

"The Ghost Writer"
The writer turns in another's work, word-for-word, as his or her own.
"The Photocopy"
The writer copies significant portions of text straight from a single source, without alteration.
"The Potluck Paper"
The writer tries to disguise plagiarism by copying from several different sources, tweaking the sentences to make them fit together while retaining most of the original phrasing.
"The Poor Disguise"
Although the writer has retained the essential content of the source, he or she has altered the paper's appearance slightly by changing key words and phrases.
"The Labor of Laziness"
The writer takes the time to paraphrase most of the paper from other sources and make it all fit together, instead of spending the same effort on original work.
"The Self-Stealer"
The writer "borrows" generously from his or her previous work, violating policies concerning the expectation of originality adopted by most academic institutions.
"The Perfect Crime"
Well, we all know it doesn't exist. In this case, the writer properly quotes and cites sources in some places, but goes on to paraphrase other arguments from those sources without citation. This way, the writer tries to pass off the paraphrased material as his or her own analysis of the cited material.
Preventing Plagiarism
Plagiarism is quickly becoming part of our educational culture. More and more students are turning to the internet for quick "short cuts" around the rewarding but time-consuming work of writing research papers.
A large part of the problem is awareness of the issues. Often, students do not even know that they are plagiarizing, and those who do know are often unaware of the seriousness of the offence and its possible consequences. Another part of the problem lies in the factors that make students likely to plagiarize: poor research skills, attitudes toward grades and school work, poor time-management skills, the perception that peers are cheating, and skewed risk-reward assessments, for example. We believe strongly that a great deal of plagiarism can be prevented by addressing these factors. Please visit our educator and student specific sections to find out more.
According to the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, to "plagiarize" means
1.to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own
2.to use (another's production) without crediting the source
3.to commit literary theft
4.to present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source.
In other words, plagiarism is an act of fraud. It involves both stealing someone else's work and lying about it afterward.

Television is atrue mirror of society

'Television is in no way a true mirror of society'. To what extent do you agree with this
statement?
A true mirror of society is something that faithfully reflects or gives a true picture of the society. By
analysing the programs that are shown on the television, we will find out whether television is a true
or false mirror of the society. In this modern era, television is mostly considered as medium of
entertainment. Television telecasts several different kinds of programs. Among them, some
television programs are more informative about society, but most of them are not reflecting the true
image of society. Programs based on fantasy, drives viewers strongly into imaginary world, which
does not reflect real life. Unfortunately most of the programs on television are not true image of our
society, this essay will argue for this statement. Now I am going to provide arguments, in which
some will show television is true mirror but most arguments can confirm that it is not a mirror of
society.

TITLE:
Economic problems of the pre-sessional students of LONDON METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY.

BACKGROUND :
At present, economic problem is hot topic not only in London, but also in the world. We have already know about credit crunch. Recently all the product and market price is rising, changing in house prices, fluctuation of stock market, dramatically increase our food prices also increasing our transportation cost. Now people are facing a lot of problem in this situation. We observed that in this serious situation student faced a big problem. In our team work we could know about that what kind of problem face our new coming student of LONDON METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY. In our survey we could find that almost their are international student. They are the such kind of victim on this economy. Now they faced a lot of problem in their live hood.

AIMS :
The purpose of this report is to investigate what economics problem affect pre-sessional students of LONDON METROPOLITAN UNIVERSIT and how their life can change due to economic crisis.

METHOD :
This research is based on a questionnaire. The sample size was 35.These respondents were of different ages and gender, and form different country. They were all students of LONDON METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY .

FINDINGS:
The first question emphasises the residence of the students. Most of them are residing in rent houses. The reason for renting a house is sharing the accommodation. As a result of that they are saving money. The graph showing this result, is given below.

The second question says about how is their weekly payment for their accommodation. The answer is that 60% of the total students are paying less then 120 pounds for their accommodation fee.

15 students, almost 50% of the total, are paying between 50-150 pounds for their monthly utility bills.

Then next question is giving an idea of paying the tuition fee. 13 of them, which is a significant number, are paying the fee by themselves, that means they are working to accumulate the tuition fee.

The case of working as a student, 7 gave a positive answer.

A very important question was raised in the questionnaire about the economic crisis of London. However, most of the students answered yes, because they are feeling the crisis at their every step at London.

In the 5th question is that are they working or not? Only few student they said yes. but most of them they did not find any job.

The 6th question tries to find out that how is their social or leisure life in London after this economic problem. Findings shows that, students are still maintaining their social life but not at the same extent.

Next one is talking about UK's economic crisis. Their opinion is yes and they said really it is a big problem. All the market prices are growing up.

Last question is what they wanted to change their current situation. Almost student said they want earn more money n remove their present economic crisis as soon as possible.

By analysing the findings, it can be said that, economic crisis has an impact on the pre-sessional students.

Discussion
This section analyses answers asked in the questioner. Illustration1: most of the students live on their own renting flat. Only few students choose their accommodation for halls and residence. Because own renting flat is cheaper than halls sand residence the reason for they can share their flat with others and they can also save their money. From second illustration we can find that 60% of total students are paying less then 120 pounds for their accommodation fee. This seems to suggest that they are not able to expend much money for their accommodation purpose. In the third bar chart this appears to indicate that almost 50% of the total, are paying between 50-150 pounds for their monthly utility bills. Because they do not have enough money to payment their utility bills highly. Other than the 4th question is about their tuition fee. 13 of them, which is significant number, are paying the fee by themselves, that means they are working to accumulate the tuition fee. This might to indicate that their parents can not bear to give their tuition fees . But some new comer student they did not find a job still now. They are hardly seeking to get a new job. For this purpose students are still maintaining their social life but not at the same extent. Their think is that UK is now really affected on economic crisis and their life becoming very uncomfortable at this moment. They want to solve this problem as soon as possible .

In overall discussion we can say that now students of LONDON METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY facing a lot of problem in present economic crisis. They desperetly need a lot of money to maintain their living cost, some students want to get a new job and earn more money to sustain themselves.
So economic crisis has severe impact on the pre-sessional students.
